It is important to
note that Kodak Ektachrome 100D is a daylight balanced film,
unlike its predecessors, Ektachrome 64T and Kodachrome 40 which
were all tungsten balanced. So it is important that you understand
how the daylight/tungsten filter switch on your camera should be
set.
Daylight filming
You will need to make sure that there is no filter in place in your
camera. It may seem counter intuitive, but you need to set the internal
camera filter to the tungsten (or bulb shaped icon) position. In
this position the internal camera filter is disengaged so you are
OK to shoot under daylight.
Tungsten filming
You will need to make
sure that the internal filter is disengaged in your camera. So again,
the camera filter control must be set to the tungsten (or bulb shaped
icon) position and, most importantly, you will need to purchase
an 80A filter which attaches to the front of the lens. With the
80A filter attached to your camera, you can shoot under tungsten
lighting and the effective speed of the film is 25ASA.
We can supply 80A filters
which screw onto the front of your camera lens, please see the section
at the bottom of this page. If you dont know what size filter you
need, it is sometimes printed on the back of the lens cap or please
contact us and we will try and find out what size you need.
